A graduate of The Hartt School, Jayke has had the pleasure of doing numerous regional and summer-stock productions in some wonderful places, including the Catskills and Cape Cod, as well as numerous states across the country, and on Broadway, with Chicago The Musical.
Meet Jayke
Nope, it’s not a typo. There’s a Y.
Jayke always wanted his name in lights, and his parents wanted to ensure that it would always be misspelled. Born and raised in the midwest, Jayke’s upbringing was most definitely a musical one. LP’s of Jazz standards and alternative rock spun in his grandparents’ living room, and The Wizard of Oz was a staple on the TV. Jayke has always loved the style and grace of the golden age musicals he would watch, rewind, and watch again. When a tiny home-town musical cabaret led to the opportunity to audition for his first musical, Jayke couldn’t turn it down. At the age of nine he got the role of Jojo in, ‘Seussical The Musical’ and has been hooked ever since. Jayke’s experience in the arts spans from choral and solo endeavors in Bach and Handel in Kansas City, to dancing in Jazz and Modern Dance pieces in Minneapolis. Favorite projects include working with Lois Lowry on the World Premier production of ‘The Giver: The Opera’ at The Lyric Opera of Kansas City, in which Jayke played the role of Jonas, as well as being the male swing on the new original musical, ‘The Flamingo Kid’ at Hartford Stage under the incredible direction of Darko Tresjnak. Most recently, he had the pleasure of making his broadway debut in Chicago The Musical as Mary Sunshine.
